Conference overview

This year's theme is language assessment in interdisciplinary research. Language assessment increasingly extends beyond traditional testing contexts. Language tests and assessment practices shape fields such as SLA, healthcare, education, psychology, policy, and workplace communication, while researchers across disciplines use assessment tools to better understand learning, communication, participation, and societal trends.

With its central theme LTRC 2027 foregrounds questions about what happens when language assessment moves across disciplinary boundaries. The conference invites reflection on the role and impact of language assessment in other disciplines, and vice versa, and the growing connections between assessment and other disciplines.

Alongside the academic programme, participants will have the opportunity to experience the historic city of Ghent and enjoy a range of social and networking activities throughout the conference week.

A unique opportunity this year is a cross-over event with the EuroSLA 36 conference, which will take place in Ghent immediately following LTRC. This special collaboration perfectly complements this year's focus on the use of language tests in society and in research.
